  1. TOEFL: Who is it for?

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) measures the ability of non-native speakers of English to use and understand North American English as it is spoken, written and heard in college and university settings. Most people who take the TOEFL test are planning to study at colleges and universities where instruction is in English. In addition, many government agencies, scholarship programs, and licensing/certification agencies use TOEFL scores to evaluate English proficiency.


  1. Versions of the TOEFL test

You can do the test on paper or on a computer, depending where you live. The test comes in two formats:

  • Paper-based test (PBT)
  • Next generation computer-based test (iBT)

The iBT is not yet available at every test center. If it is available at your local center then you will have to do it. If not you will do the PBT.


  1. Where do I take the test?

If you are living in Bhopal then at “Knowledge kingdom” or if you are not then at any test authorized center in your city. The test is organized by the Educational Testing Service. You can register for the TOEFL iBT online.

  1. How to Apply?

Obtain the “TOEFL Information Bulletin” available free with Knowledge kingdom. The Test Scheduling Form comes with the bulletin.

There are three ways to register:

  • Registering by Phone: You may call up Knowledge kingdom office until 12:00 noon to register. Make sure to call at least THREE BUSINESS DAYS before the test date.
  • Registering by Fax: If registering by fax, you must send your fax at least SEVEN DAYS prior to your first choice of a test day.
  • Registering by Mail/Courier: Fill in the form, get the draft made (if you are not paying by credit card), and submit these to the Knowledge kingdom either by hand or by registered post/courier. You must send the documents at least THREE WEEKS before your choice of a test day.

On receipt of your documents, an appointment will be scheduled for you to test at the Knowledge kingdom Center. Confirmation of the date, time and location of the appointment will be sent to you. If you do not receive confirmation at least THREE business days before your first choice of test day, please call the Knowledge kingdom office to verify your appointment.


[Note: You will receive an admit card normally within a week of applying. Remember to keep a copy of the form and the draft with you.]

The TOEFL test is a product of ETS, a nonprofit organization with more than 60 years of experience helping advance quality and equity in education worldwide. Its mission is to develop and administer tests that give students like you the opportunity to pursue their dreams, anywhere in the world.


  1. Materials Required on the Test Day?
  • You are required to bring your valid passport on the day of your exam. This is mandatory.
  • Second signature bearing identification, i.e., Driving License, Notarized identification.
  • Confirmation letter or Number.


  1. Content and Format of the TOEFL test
